CLARIFICATION OF ORGANICS

The term ORGANIC is often used in a misleading interpretation.

If an organic claim is made the product should be free of pesticides herbicides synthetic food additives antibiotics in other words completely naturally fed grown and processed.

Unfortunately this is not always the true situation for example blood and bone or bone meal may have been made from an animal that has died after extensive antibiotic treatment during or following an illness. So an amount of antibiotic residual remains in the product. The product may have been heat treated which can reduce the nutrient value by around 20% and beneficial organisms are destroyed. It is possible a prohibited herbicide or pesticide may have been used on the pasture prior to processing. A prohibited food or supplement may have been fed to the animal prior to processing. All of these may have left a harmful residual that could affect downstream users particularly when children are involved.

The term CERTIFIED ORGANIC of a product means it has been grown and produced in a green and clean environment clear of all the nasties as above. Produced-fed and processed- to very ridged and extensively audited set of international rules which means it is acceptable in all of the very many countries in the world who are party to the standards.
